The Furniture Music Composition Workshop:

Stuck on what to do with that sketch you made a few months ago?

Established in January 2019, the Furniture Music Composition Workshop was conceived as a space for musicians in which they could experiment with this boundaries of their work. Our original conception was to provide a forum for burgeoning composers to gain perspective and real life experience in the process of fleshing out a sketch, an idea or an incomplete leadsheet into a full composition.

Our monthly workshop involves a rotating panel of three experienced composers, which draw from a wide variety of streams within the improvised music community. Anyone stuck on where to take a sketch or a tune is welcome to bring a few copies in to play with the band, who will in turn offer ideas and opinions on where to take the music after playing. Each possibility is explored in real-time to give the curious composer an idea of how each possibility could play out.
