My Philosophy on Education:

One thing I make a point of including in my artistic practice is the space for education and the time to work with students. I believe participation in the process of mentoring students is not only highly beneficial for the student as a mean of shortening their ascension to mastery and clarifying the details of their instrument, but it is critical for the active performer's understanding of what they do as well. Whether that come through a deftly asked question, a chance perspective on the material presented or looking at a subject one has not had to consider carefully before, the exchange of information between student and teacher is critical to the musical development of both. Therefore I see it as a part of my practice that is of the utmost importance to uphold.

I strive to instill in my students a sense of enjoyment in the process of learning, and a curiosity over details found in the music they are most passionate about. There's a certain excitement in being able to really nail a passage or making a melody or solo sing. So much of our enjoyment of music come from meeting our own expectations within our playing, which can be a difficult learning process to connect with if one doesn't have a knowledgeable guide. I aim to help those who wish to hone their skills into something special by facilitating a better understanding of how their instrument works, demonstrating what goes into their performance practices and helping to forge a stronger connection to the music my students are seeking to express themselves with. My approach is custom tailored to each student's interest and need, making for a personal experience that addresses my student's interest and issues directly.
